Job description

RSI has been working in communities in Minnesota since 1978 in home and community-based settings for people living with disabilities and mental illness, providing a range of services for individuals of all ages, identities, and abilities. We believe that all people, regardless of their disability, can live successfully in a community-based setting given the proper supports.

Residential Services, Inc. (RSI) is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance and repair work at RSI buildings, grounds, and residential homes throughout East Central Minnesota. This position will provide maintenance support to RSI locations in North Branch, Mora, Cambridge, Princeton, Taylors Falls, Sandstone, and surrounding communities.

The typical schedule is Monday through Friday business hours, with occasional paid call-in shifts during evenings, nights, and weekends. Depending on operational needs, the position may have the flexibility to work either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts.


Wage: $20.00-$21.00 based on experience
Job Duties:
  • Perform maintenance and repairs at RSI residential homes, offices, and other facilities, including painting, floor care, electrical and plumbing repairs, appliance installation and repair, fixture replacement, caulking, and other general maintenance tasks.
  • Refurbish and maintain resident living areas and RSI facilities, including painting, assembling furniture, repairing holes and wall damage, replacing damaged or broken fixtures, and assisting with resident moves and related maintenance needs.
  • Assess and diagnose maintenance issues and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Perform routine building maintenance and basic troubleshooting of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems and equipment.
  • Receive and respond to maintenance requests from RSI staff through the online ticketing system and other communication methods.
  • Prioritize maintenance needs and projects based on urgency and operational needs and maintain accurate and timely status updates in RSIโ€™s tracking system.
  • Coordinate building, facility, and contracted repairs with approved vendors and serve as a point of contact for vendor services.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on RSI vehicles and coordinate scheduled maintenance and repairs with approved vendors.
  • Maintain sidewalks, driveways, and other exterior areas by sweeping, shoveling, and removing obstructions as needed.
  • Ensure proper removal and disposal of debris from buildings and grounds.
  • Perform landscaping and grounds maintenance, including mowing, raking, trimming, watering, and other related tasks.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with people receiving services, staff, vendors, and others contacted in the course of daily work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Requirements:    
Minimum of two years of hands-on maintenance experience, including the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Experience coordinating and implementing capital improvement projects. All candidates must have a valid driver's license, meet company motor vehicle operator criteria, and successfully complete a background check.
Preferred Experience:
  • 1 - 2 yrs. hotel, hospital, or assisted living facility maintenance experience. Experience working independently with little or no supervision preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 80 pounds using proper body mechanics and/or available equipment.
  • Bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and performing other physical activities necessary to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods and climbing stairs.
  • Working outdoors in varying and potentially extreme weather conditions, including winter and summer temperatures.
  • Safely performing maintenance duties and operating related tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Operating standard office equipment, including computers.
