Job description

Licensed Electrician – State of Iowa or Receptacle State

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Licensed Electrician to perform electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of electrical systems and equipment in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), Iowa electrical regulations, and company safety standards. The ideal candidate possesses a current State of Iowa electrical license and has experience working in commercial, industrial, manufacturing, utility, or construction environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, and wiring diagrams.
  • Install conduit, cable tray, raceways, wire, cable, panels, transformers, switchgear, motors, lighting systems, and electrical devices.
  • Perform electrical testing using appropriate diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, megohm meters, clamp meters, and other testing instruments.
  • Troubleshoot electrical control circuits, power distribution systems, and equipment to identify and correct failures.
  • Install and terminate conductors, control wiring, instrumentation, and electrical equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on electrical systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), State of Iowa electrical regulations, OSHA requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, inspections, repairs, and testing results.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, inspectors, and other trades to complete projects safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Participate in safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Respond to emergency electrical repairs as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current, active State of Iowa Electrical License appropriate for the work being performed (Journeyman Class A, Journeyman Class B, Residential, or other applicable Iowa license or receptacle state).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of electrical installation and maintenance experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commercial and/or industrial electrical experience.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, utility, petrochemical, power generation, or heavy industrial environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from lifts and scaffolding, and work at varying heights.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to distinguish wire colors.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be capable of wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work Environment

  • Commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or construction job sites.
  • Exposure to energized electrical equipment, noise, dust, heat, cold, and other environmental conditions.
  • May require overtime, weekends, holidays, and travel depending on project requirements.
