Available Schedule (Subject to Change):

  • Full time / Weekdays and Weekends Vary / hours vary based on events happening within the community

Position Summary: 

Under the supervision of the Catering Manager, participates in and oversees work of the wait staff in providing high quality, formal service for residents and guests of Royal Oaks in all of our catering events. Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to, setting up places at dining tables, taking orders, serving food, serving drinks and answering inquiries about the menu. Provides high quality, friendly service to residents and guests of Royal Oaks in the dining areas and at special functions.


Brief Overview of Major Duties:

  • Assist Catering Manager with preparing and distributing function sheets for all special events to the various areas in food service and update with any necessary changes as needed. 
  • Answers questions about food and drinks including their ingredients, preparation and accompanying items.
  • Assist in the setup, execution and breakdown of the special event under the direction of the Catering Manager for all events. This includes but is not limited to, setting up buffet tables and decorations.  
  • Coordinates and supervises daily work assignments for staff members for all special functions including side work and cleaning duties under supervision of Catering Manager.
  • Ensures all catering items are cleaned, collected, and returned to the correct storage areas as indicated by the Catering Manager. Assist in inventorying all catering items.
  • Serves private dining room guests when dinners are scheduled.
  • Assists Catering Manager in inventorying all catering items and assists with ordering items from Purchasing.  Ensures "Pars" are maintained.
  • Works in and understands operations management software to generate work orders or event details, add events and modify events.  Understands and is familiarizes self with all banquet space, public space sizes and equipment needed.  
  • Communicate with Catering Manager and/or other Royal Oaks staff for work related purposes via call or text. A monthly cell phone stipend applies.  
  • Required to operate/drive a golf cart (including a multi-passenger golf cart) for the purpose of transporting supplies around campus as needed. This may also include transporting employees, residents and/or guests when needed. 
  • May also perform work as a dining room Server/Busser/Food Runner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements


Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Has in depth knowledge of food and beverage service in a fine dining environment.
  • Has knowledge of Maricopa County Food regulations, sanitation guidelines and safety compliance. 
  • Has ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Has good communication skills. 
  • Has computer proficiency - Microsoft Word/Excel, Outlook and Internet.
  • Is organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations. 
  • Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.
  • Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests. 

Education and Experience:

  • Preferably has a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferably has 2 years' experience working in a formal dining environment.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Obtains a Maricopa County food handlers card within 30 days of employment.
  • Obtains a Certified Food Protection Manager certificate in compliance with Maricopa County guidelines within 90 days of employment. 
  • Has current, valid driver's license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks' insurance carrier.

Physical Requirements:

  • Is able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 30 pounds.
  • May need to operate a fire extinguisher.
  • Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.
