Job description

Join the opening team behind four bespoke, destination restaurant and bar concepts at the Kimpton Era: a street-level Latin Restaurant & Taqueria, an upscale NY Brasserie, an all-day coffee and cocktail lounge, and an Asian izakaya with 360-degree views of Rockefeller Center and Radio City.

Summary: The dishwasher oversees dishwashing operations and kitchen organization, ensuring efficient cleaning of all kitchen dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and equipment. Your role is vital to the smooth operation of the restaurant, as you support both the front and back of-house teams by maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe workspace.

Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently wash, sanitize, and stack dishes, glassware, and utensils using industrial dishwashing equipment or by hand, including pots, pans, and other kitchen tools.
  • Regularly clean and maintain dishwashing equipment, ensuring it operates effectively.
  • Report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area by regularly removing trash and recycling, sweeping, and mopping floors, and wiping down surfaces.
  • Support kitchen staff by ensuring that cleaning supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, dishwashing detergents, and kitchen essentials. Inform management when supplies are running low to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and guidelines, including proper sanitation procedures, to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Follow safety protocols when handling kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals.
  • Work closely with other kitchen staff, servers, and management to maintain open communication and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Be willing to take on additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned by management to support the needs of the restaurant during peak hours or special events.

Must Haves:

  • Previous experience in a dishwasher role
  • Knowledge of dishwashing detergents, equipment, and maintenance
  • Understanding of health and safety standards
  • Willingness to perform occasional maintenance tasks and assist in kitchen duties as needed
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
