JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for completing projects in accordance with customer specifications and within schedule and budget limitations; mentoring Level 1 Project Engineers, coordinates activities of contractors, vendors, and customers. Reports to the Engineering Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Prepares drawings, procedures, sketches, etc., necessary for the development of new products and service to existing products.
  • Responsible for issue of product specifications, scope of work, and repair instructions to production.
  • Reviews and evaluates design specifications and test requirements, ensuring technical accuracy and cost efficiency.
  • Continuously searches for new materials, processes and procedures to enhance and improve the company competiveness.
  • Generates Sales Orders for incoming new quotes, as well as Sales Order revisions.
  • Responsible for creating ABOMs as required.
  • Develop and maintain CAD drawings for assigned projects as required.
  • Responsible for assisting in the mentoring and development Level 1 Project Engineers.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participates in product reviews and process reviews to prevent or resolve product or production difficulties.
  • Supports Operational Excellence by providing engineering knowledge and assistance as needed.
  • Supports manufacturing operations by participating in an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Interfaces with customer engineers, mill roll representatives, and sales personnel.
  • Performs other duties when required or requested. Supports other Voith locations as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering is required, or equivalent work experience. Minimum of three years of experience in engineering practice.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering theory and design criteria; knowledge of drawing interpretation, and basic drafting/drawing principles required.
  • Must be familiar with a variety of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and product testing in addition to sketching, layout, and drafting work.
  • Excellent mechanical, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Proficient computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated writing and communication skills required
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of ERP systems
  • Good administrative and interpersonal skills, ability to work within a team, ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Previous paper industry experience helpful, but not required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Work may involve standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds overhead.
