Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position is designed to be a two-year program, during which the Associate Rotational Accountant works for six-month periods with each of the four major accounting functions: Corporate Accounting, Operations Accounting, Development & Construction Accounting and Financial Reporting. Upon conclusion of the two-year program (or earlier if deemed appropriate), and based on performance and Department needs, the Associate Rotational Accountant will be eligible fill an open position in the Accounting Department. In the event that a full-time position is not open following the program period, the individual will continue through the rotations until a need arises.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Corporate Accounting / Financial Systems

    • Prepare bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations

    • Prepare budget reports for distribution to budget owners

    • Enter or approve invoices in Yardi Voyager

    • Assist with testing associated with Yardi application release notes

    • Load weekly payment method updates to Yardi Voyager

    • Administer user approval role updates

  • Operations Accounting

    • Support CAM reconciliation process

    • Participate in month-end reporting process for assigned portfolio, including monthly journal entries for operating expense accounts and balance sheet reconciliations

    • Prepare required variance analysis comparing actual against budget and forecasts in current and prior periods

    • Participate in budget preparation process for assigned portfolio

  • Development & Construction Accounting
     
    • Assist with 3rd party construction billings and reconciliations
    • Perform Tenant Improvement lease abstraction and job set-up
    • Assist with tenant reimbursement requests
    • Complete monthly construction in progress reconciliations
    • Participate in month-end reporting process for assigned job type, including monthly journal entries for development accounts and balance sheet reconciliation
  • Financial Reporting
    • SEC filing and supplemental package rollforward within Workiva reporting platform

    • Prepare tie-out support and documentation for external reporting

    • Review XBRL tagging for SEC filings

    • Assist with joint venture reporting packages

    • Prepare supporting schedules for debt, joint ventures, notes receivable and/or credit losses on financial assets

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in maintaining the internal controls and policies of CDP. Communicate any deficiencies in controls to Supervisor.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education -

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance.

Professional Experience - 

  • 0-1 years related accounting experience with increased responsibility and strong performance necessary
  • Will consider college graduate with CDP internship experience or other relevant internship experience and a strong recommendation

Computer Skills - 

  • PC proficiency to include but not limited to) Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and ability to learn company specific software.

  • Ability to adapt to new or changing software programs.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems required.

Mobility - Occasional travel to portfolio locations.

Other Requirements - 

  • Strong analytical, technical, and interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and comprehend multiple and complex business transactions and documents simultaneously with good and possibly independent judgment.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess solutions-based approach to identified areas of opportunity.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley.

Pay Range: $52,000 - $60,000
