Job Description:

An Assistant Professor of Nursing is a faculty member who is responsible for the education of nursing students, development of the College of Nursing, and the advancement of his/her professional development.

Essential Functions
Teaches in the classroom, clinical/campus laboratory, and clinical seminars in accordance with curriculum standards and outcome.
Plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing curriculum.
Develops evaluation strategies and delivers instructional materials to meet course outcomes.
Functions as a class adviser to provide advisement and guidance for intellectual, personal, and professional development of assigned students.
Collaborates with other faculty, preceptors, and clinical personnel to provide optimum learning opportunities for students.
Plans, supervises, and evaluates learning experiences for students in the clinical area.
Performs pre-and post-conferences in the clinical area to help students integrate clinical learning with theoretical learning.
Serves on university, college and/or Ad hoc committees.
Participates in nursing and university services and activities.
Maintains expertise in his/her specialty area, clinical practice, and in teaching methodologies.
Maintains a positive and effective learning environment that promotes the professional development of students.
Assists in preparation for nursing approval and accreditation of visits.
Develops and evaluates standards/criteria for the admission, progression, and graduation of students.
Maintains collegial relationships with students and colleagues.
Maintains effective relationships with clinical agencies utilized for clinical experiences.
Reliable and timely with an expectation of 40+ hours per week on site with at least 3 hours per week available for students.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Master's degree in nursing from an NLN-CNEA, ACEN or CCNE-accredited institution.
Demonstrated current clinical experience in the area of specialty.
Teaching experience in nursing at the postsecondary level (preferred). If none, attend seminars
for nurse educators.
Holds current, active RN license in Nevada or Utah based on location of primary appointment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Individual must possess the knowledge and following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:
Ability to meet challenges of adult students with diverse backgrounds.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Work Conditions
Work is primarily indoors but requires the incumbent to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between local campus buildings, off campus, and other Roseman University facilities out-of-state.
Performing duties and attending events outside the normally scheduled work hours occasionally occurs and is required.
Traveling off campus to a local, state, regional and/or national event, as well as travel to other Roseman campuses or facilities occurs occasionally and is required.
Incumbents may be exposed to frequent noise caused by telephones, office machines, and nearby oral communications among university personnel and/or students.


Required Physical Abilities
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit and use a computer for a long period of time.
Manual and physical dexterity are needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screens, handwritten forms, and printed on paper.
Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
Ability to lift and carry a stack of forms and documents weighing up to 25 pounds.
