Position Summary:

Primoris Power Generation is seeking an experienced Director of Projects to lead large-scale projects within the Power Generation Group, with a focus on gas & steam turbine simple cycle and combined cycle generation projects. This position is responsible for the overall execution of complex projects—from pre-construction through close-out—ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and financial performance are achieved or exceeded.

The Director of Projects plays a strategic leadership role in guiding cross-functional teams, managing key stakeholder relationships, and driving project success while upholding the integrity of all technical, contractual, and operational commitments. This role requires deep knowledge of project controls, technical execution, and construction management within the power generation and energy infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall project leadership and accountability for multi-million-dollar power projects, including full lifecycle project execution.
  • Serve as the client’s primary point of contact, maintaining high levels of communication, trust, and satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead internal project teams including engineering, procurement, construction, and safety functions to ensure seamless coordination and execution.
  • Oversee contractor performance, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely review and approval of all engineering deliverables, drawings, and design documents to maintain technical accuracy and integrity.
  • Drive project performance, identifying risk factors early and implementing mitigation strategies to protect project schedule, scope, and budget.
  • Facilitate resolution of multi-discipline technical challenges in coordination with internal engineering teams and external partners.
  • Direct participation in safety reviews including HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA studies to promote a culture of operational excellence.
  • Manage change control processes, ensuring scope changes are clearly documented, evaluated, and approved.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on manpower planning, resource allocation, and overall portfolio strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required.
  • 15+ years of experience in industrial or power construction projects, including at least 5 years in a leadership role as a Senior Project Manager or Project Director.
  • Proven experience managing large EPC projects (>$100M) in gas turbine co-generation, LNG, or related energy infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles, construction management, project controls, and contract administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
