Roofing Project Manager


Location: Kailua-Kona, HI. This is an in-person position requiring regular travel to project sites throughout West Hawaii and the surrounding Big Island area. 


Lead Projects From the First Plan to the Final Inspection.

For more than 25 years, Lava Roofing has delivered customized roofing construction, repair, reroofing, and maintenance services throughout Hawaii. Our company serves residential, commercial, and government clients with a focus on honest communication, professional project execution, quality craftsmanship, and dependable customer service.


Lava Roofing is seeking an accomplished Roofing Project Manager to oversee projects throughout Kona and the surrounding Big Island area. This position will manage roofing projects from planning and mobilization through completion, inspection, and closeout. The Project Manager will coordinate customers, crews, subcontractors, vendors, materials, budgets, and schedules. The successful candidate will be organized, proactive, financially aware, and comfortable making decisions that keep projects safe, on schedule, and profitable.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage roofing projects from preconstruction and scheduling through final completion.
  • Review contracts, scopes of work, estimates, plans, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, labor plans, and material timelines.
  • Coordinate foremen, crews, subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, and equipment.
  • Monitor project costs, labor hours, material usage, change orders, and profitability.
  • Conduct job-site visits to evaluate safety, quality, production, and progress.
  • Identify potential scheduling, material, staffing, and technical challenges.
  • Resolve project issues proactively and communicate solutions clearly.
  • Provide customers with regular updates regarding schedules, progress, and changes.
  • Coordinate inspections, permits, warranties, documentation, and project closeout.
  • Support field leadership and reinforce safety and workmanship expectations.
  • Maintain accurate project reports, photographs, records, and internal updates.
  • Help improve project-management processes and operational performance.

Qualifications

  • Proven project management experience in roofing, construction, or a closely related field.
  • Strong knowledge of project scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and field operations.
  • Understanding of roofing systems, installation processes, materials, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, crews, and deadlines.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional customer service skills and confidence handling challenging conversations.
  • High level of organization, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using project-management, scheduling, email, and documentation technology.
  • Ability to review project costs and make decisions that support profitability.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the area.

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-time, W-2 Employment
  • Pay: $100,000 - $150,000 per year, based on experience.
  • Eligible for a performance-based bonus. Bonus eligibility and payout are based on company and individual performance and are not guaranteed. 
  • Paid time off.
  • Medical insurance with company contribution toward eligible employee premiums.
  • Company vehicle provided for approved business travel in accordance with company policy. 
  • Schedule: Full-time, generally Monday through Friday. Early mornings, extended hours, or occasional weekends may be required based on project schedules, weather, and customer needs.
