Job description

All American Doit Center (a division of All American Lumber, Inc.) is a large retail hardware store with attached lumber yard and rental equipment area. All American began business in 1980 and has been a Wisconsin family-owned business since. They have grown the company and have touches within the construction, lumber, retail hardware, steel buildings/roofing, property management and pickleball businesses.
The General Manager role will report to the Vice President of Operations and will have responsibility for complete day-to-day operations of the Sparta All American Doit Center retail store, yard and rental.
Essential Functions:
โ€ข Lead by example in providing excellent customer service.
โ€ข Manage the financial responsibility for the store including store growth.
โ€ข Instill All American's culture and values in all team members.
โ€ข Train and motivate the store sales team to provide exceptional customer service and growth in sales.
โ€ข Respond immediately to any customer complaints and resolve them quickly.
โ€ข Maximize store sales and profitability and minimize expenses while ensuring the store is optimally stocked and merchandised.
โ€ข Drive store sales and profit to exceed budget.
โ€ข Understand the dynamics that impact the financial performance of the store and remain accountable to results that meet or exceed company objectives.
โ€ข Control costs and schedule payroll in a manner consistent with All American's objectives for labor productivity and customer service.
โ€ข Having the upmost integrity in business operations and dealing with team members, customers, etc.
โ€ข Perform all sales counter functions, point-of-sale functions, and store administrative functions as needed.
โ€ข Ensure that all inventory movement (sales, returns, transfers, adjustments) is recorded timely and accurately to help detect and prevent shrinkage.
โ€ข Ensure store and yard personnel accurately receive and properly store merchandise.
โ€ข Drive a safety-first environment and ensure a safe and secure working environment at all times.
โ€ข Possess strong working knowledge of store security measures and advise employees on company-approved methods of preventing loss and promoting safety.
โ€ข Provide an enjoyable working environment that is conducive to self-motivation, high productivity, and overall positive morale.
โ€ข Ensure an open-door environment where team members feel free to report problems and offer ideas to management.
โ€ข Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
Job Qualifications:
โ€ข Previous Store Management experience preferably Hardware and/or Building Materials experience.
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience
โ€ข Valid Wisconsin driver's license
Travel:
Local travel is expected to other stores at various times, and an occasional meeting or retail show may require more out-of-the-area and overnight travel.

Work Environment:
This job generally operates in a professional office and store environment. However, there is also an outside lumber yard and rental equipment area you would be over that is exposed to heat and cold and/or loud noises. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
