What are the primary responsibilities of a rollback driver during a typical shift?

A Rollback Driver is responsible for safely transporting disabled vehicles using a flatbed or rollback tow truck, often responding to roadside assistance calls or scheduled pick-ups. Daily tasks include inspecting assigned vehicles and equipment, securing cars properly on the bed, navigating various traffic conditions, and completing necessary paperwork or digital records. Rollback Drivers also interact directly with customers, which requires clear communication and a professional attitude. The work environment often involves both independent driving and collaboration with dispatchers, mechanics, and law enforcement, providing a dynamic and hands-on work experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the rollback position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Rollback Driver or Technician, you need a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), a clean driving record, and experience operating rollback (flatbed) tow trucks. These qualifications ensure safe and efficient vehicle recovery and transportation while maintaining high standards of professionalism and client satisfaction.
