Job description

The Opportunity
The Clinical Affairs Associate Manager will partner closely with Product Development and R&D to assist with designing and implementing comprehensive testing plans to validate new ingredients/technologies during early development all the way through final clinicals to validate product performance and safety. The Clinical Affairs Associate Manager will be instrumental in translating data and research into novel and consumer relevant claims.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design and manage in-vitro and ex-vivo testing strategies to evaluate new ingredients/technologies and prototype formulas vs benchmarks that support the overall product and claims testing strategy.
  • Manage all aspects of study execution with external research partners including but not limited to protocol development, drafting questionnaires, preparing IRB documentation, labeling and shipping samples, managing purchase orders and contracts.
  • Establish test plans with clearly defined objectives and success criteria to ensure all research supports the product pipeline and helps drive innovation.
  • Help shape business strategy through thoughtful data collection/analysis and insightful observations.
  • Manage internal proof of principle and user studies.
  • Lead sensory analysis.
  • Lead safety testing, micro and PET studies.
  • Conduct SPF testing in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Support development and execution of claims and clinical testing strategies.
Candidate Qualifications
  • 5+ years minimum experience in a corporate environment in one of the following industries/disciplines: skincare, clinical testing or cosmetic research
  • Prior experience in the skincare industry
  • Experienced in translating data, research and knowledge of skin and hair biology to novel, benefit led, consumer relevant claims
  • The ability to fulfill several project requests simultaneously while managing and meeting tight timelines
  • Adaptable to changing tasks and assigned responsibilities
  • A proven track record of working collaboratively and being accountable
  • Successful record of working across various, cross-functional internal and external teams to deliver meaningful results on time, on budget, and with limited direction
  • A demonstrated passion for the industry, business, company and/or brand
  • The ability to effectively partner and motivate across functions and with outside vendors/research partners
  • The ability to think strategically, creatively and analytically
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or a related field required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and great attention to detail
 
Additionally, the ideal candidate would be:
  • A fast-mover who is flexible, able to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, be willing to wear many hats and be hands-on.
  • Have a strong understanding of clinical, in-vitro and ex-vivo research practices and scientific fundamentals that govern testing. 
  • Responsible and extremely resourceful in finding answers and solutions when information and data is not readily available
  • Expedient, rigorous, tenuous, results-oriented and a proven problem solver
  • A proven strategic thinker who demonstrates outstanding understanding of brand and company objectives and can make decisions based on such
  • Creative thinker who thinks outside of the box and always looks for ways to improve

  • A conscientious team-player with unquestionable personal and professional character and integrity
  • Have a strong understanding of personal care ingredients, chemistry, skin and hair biology, MOA and formulations
Salary Range: $84,000 - $105,000 
  
The pay range represents the low and high end of the salary range we reasonably expect to pay for this position at the time of posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, to geographic location, experience, education, skills, qualifications, performance, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of Rodan + Fields’ total compensation package for employees.
