Job description

Rockhurst University seeks a dynamic, faith-filled team member to serve as Director of Campus Ministry. Founded by the Jesuits in 1910 and located in Kansas City, Missouri, Rockhurst is a comprehensive university of 3000 students that offers more than fifty undergraduate, master, and doctoral programs taught by nationally recognized faculty. The Director of Campus Ministry is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of all spiritual programs and efforts directed toward students of the University to help them grow in their adult faith and create a religiously vibrant spiritual community among students. The incumbent creates a creative dynamic that supports all staff members as they work with the wholistic development of all students in the Jesuit tradition.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Oversight of the Campus Ministry Department including supervising, supporting and providing direction to all Campus Ministry staff.
  • Manage and maintain departmental budget and credit cards.
  • Oversight of facilities associated with the department
  • Develop and oversee the Ignatian student retreat program.
  • Develop a student campus minister program providing leadership opportunities for students.
  • Provide individual pastoral support and spiritual accompaniment to students.
  • Coordinate planning and logistics for various campus prayer services and monthly adoration, benediction, confession nights.
  • Serve as liaison and resource for spiritually based student organizations.

Position Requirements
  • Master's degree in Theology, Divinity, Spirituality, or related field.
  • Three or more years experience working in college campus ministry or related ministry with effective leadership of programs
  • Understanding and appreciation of Ignatian Spirituality and Jesuit higher education principles that includes experience(s) centered in Ignatian Spirituality
  • Active in the Catholic faith and competent in working with people of many cultures, ethnicities, and religious traditions.
  • Strong organizational, planning, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals
  • Effective pastoral and mentoring skills
  • Must be able to workdays, evenings (typically 1-2 evenings per week while classes are in session during fall and spring semesters), and weekends as required by programming areas of responsibilities.
