Description
Position Overview
The Pepperdine University School of Nursing invites applications for clinical and tenure-track faculty appointments to support its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Entry-Level Master's Degree in Nursing, Clinical Nurse Leader (ELM-CNL) programs. Candidates must demonstrate a profound commitment to pedagogical excellence and student success. Preferred candidates will possess a documented record of effective instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Specialization and Expertise
The School seeks expertise in the following domains: pathopharmacology, adult medical/surgical, pediatrics, gerontology, obstetrics, behavioral/mental health, community/population health, and clinical foundations/reasoning. Substantial clinical experience and direct patient care expertise in one or more of these areas are mandatory.
Appointment Details
Following admission of the inaugural cohorts of students in Fall 2025 and January 2026, these full-time, in-person positions will commence on August 1, 2026, at the Malibu and Calabasas campuses. Applications will be reviewed immediately and remain open until the positions are filled.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual 12-month salaries are commensurate with rank and appointment type. In all cases, the ranges reflect what Pepperdine reasonably expects to pay for the faculty appointment. Actual salary may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions
  • Clinical Faculty Ranges:

Instructor: $90,000 - $120,000
Assistant Professor: $100,000 - $125,000
Associate Professor: $110,000 - $135,000
Professor: $120,000 - $145,000
  • Tenure-Track Faculty Ranges:

Assistant Professor: $110,000 - $140,000
Associate Professor: $130,000 - $160,000
Professor: $150,000 - $190,000

Accreditation
The BSN and ELM-CNL programs are approved by the California BRN and the WASC Senior College & University Commission (WSCUC). The School of Nursing is currently seeking accreditation of its programs by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Qualifications
Academic and Professional Requirements
  • Clinical Faculty: Requires an earned master's or doctoral degree.
  • Tenure-Track Faculty: Requires an earned academic or clinical doctorate.
  • Licensure: Applicants must possess, or be eligible for, unencumbered California Registered Nurse licensure.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Appointments are contingent upon meeting the qualifications delineated in the California Code of Regulations (Title 16, Division 14, Article 3, §1425(c)) and obtaining California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) approval in the relevant specialty area(s).

  • Teaching statement. The teaching statement should reflect on the candidate's values, beliefs, and goals regarding the teaching and learning process and any pedagogical practices used or envisioned to achieve these goals. 1,500 word maximum length please.
  • Scholarly/Creative agenda. The statement should outline applicants' short- and long-term objectives and goals for their research and/or creative activities. Candidates should reflect on currently published or presented work(s) as a foundation for the statement. 1,500 word maximum length please.
