Job description

Essential Job Functions for a Portable (traveling) Ground Labor
Location: Northern Arizona, with travel to parts of Nevada as needed.
About the Role
We are hiring for a Traveling Ground Laborer to join our portable rock crushing and screening crew. In this hands-on role, you will be a vital member of the team, supporting plant operations and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. You'll report directly to the Portable Plant Foreman and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are essential to achieving our production goals. We are looking for a reliable individual with a strong commitment to safety, a great work ethic, and a desire to be part of a high-performing team.
A willingness to jump in and support the crew with whatever is needed is essential to our success.
Core Duties
  • Material Handling: Manually load and unload rocks, sand, gravel, and other materials from trucks, conveyors, or stockpiles using shovels, rakes, and other hand tools. You'll also be responsible for securing loads and moving materials using wheelbarrows or hand trucks.
  • Equipment Support: Assist heavy equipment operators by acting as a spotter, guiding them during loading/unloading, and ensuring safe operation. You will also perform pre-operation checks on equipment (e.g., checking fluid levels, tire pressure) under the direction of the operator and assist with cleaning and basic maintenance as instructed.
  • Cleaning & Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work site by removing debris, sweeping, and shoveling material build up around equipment and machinery. You will assist with routine maintenance and repairs on the crushing plant, conveyors, and screening equipment, including helping with screen changes.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company and MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations and procedures. You must wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), identify and report potential safety hazards immediately, and participate in all safety training programs.
  • Water Truck Operation: Safely operate a water truck to control dust on access roads and within the plant area, which is vital for maintaining environmental compliance and improving visibility.
  • Teamwork & General Labor: Collaborate effectively with all crew members to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This includes performing a variety of physically demanding tasks as assigned, such as digging, raking, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and assisting with general cleanup and site maintenance.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Perform tasks that involve bending, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, and vibrations.
