Plant Engineering Manager

Description
Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Company is seeking a Plant Engineering Manager to lead plant maintenance, facilities engineering, environmental compliance, and capital infrastructure initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of all plant systems, machinery, equipment, and facilities while overseeing maintenance personnel and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering expertise, manufacturing leadership experience, and a hands-on approach to operational excellence, safety, and regulatory compliance.
How You Will Help
  • Lead and direct the Maintenance Department, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant equipment, systems, and facilities.
  • Provide technical expertise for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, and installing manufacturing equipment and plant infrastructure.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve proactive preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and operational performance.
  • Maintain building and grounds infrastructure, ensuring facilities remain safe, compliant, clean, and well maintained.
  • Ensure all equipment, utilities, and facility systems comply with applicable codes, regulations, and company standards.
  • Serve as Fire Marshal, proactively identifying, correcting, and preventing unsafe conditions throughout the facility.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, R&D, Purchasing, Human Resources, and external vendors to drive operational improvements.
  • Support capital expenditure planning by evaluating projects, recommending investments, and participating in equipment selection and vendor evaluations.
  • Manage maintenance personnel and outside contractors, providing leadership, coaching, training, performance management, and development opportunities.
  • Coordinate facility and equipment modifications required to support new product launches and manufacturing growth initiatives.
  • Oversee hazardous waste storage operations, documentation, and outbound shipments in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Maintain environmental compliance programs, permits, records, sampling activities, and reporting requirements for the facility.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources to support annual business objectives and long-term strategic goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, productivity, and cost savings.
  • Promote a culture of workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence throughout the facility.

What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 10+ years of manufacturing management experience with demonstrated success leading teams and making effective operational decisions.
  • Strong background in manufacturing operations, maintenance management, and industrial equipment systems.
  • Experience managing facility infrastructure, utilities, equipment reliability, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Environmental certification in RCRA and DOT hazardous waste compliance.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, hazardous waste handling, permitting requirements, and related recordkeeping responsibilities.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with experience supervising maintenance personnel and contractors.
  • Ability to analyze technical drawings, blueprints, equipment specifications, and manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of machine troubleshooting, equipment optimization, and manufacturing support systems.
  • Experience with PLCs, CNC equipment, robotics, HMI systems, and automation technologies is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent communication, organization, conflict resolution, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
