The Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAO) for the SOF GLSS program provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all digital modernization, data integration, and AI/ML initiatives supporting U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). This executive role drives enterprise-wide digital transformation, ensuring data-driven decision-making, mission-aligned AI capabilities, and secure, scalable technology solutions across aviation, ground, and maritime sustainment platforms. The CDAO serves as a key advisor to program leadership, government stakeholders, and technical teams, ensuring digital initiatives are executed with precision, innovation, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the SOF GLSS digital transformation roadmap, aligning with USSOCOM’s data and AI strategy.
  • Oversee enterprise data governance, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and security across all mission systems.
  • Direct AI/ML solution development for predictive maintenance, logistics optimization, and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with program managers, IT, and engineering teams to integrate digital capabilities into lifecycle sustainment operations.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD data policies, cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF, CMMC), and ethical AI guidelines.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with USSOCOM’s Chief Data and AI Office, ensuring alignment with command-wide digital priorities.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies (e.g., edge computing, digital twins, RPA) to enhance mission effectiveness.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in agile development cycles, DevSecOps practices, and cloud-native solution delivery.
  • Oversee digital performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting to inform leadership and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support digital workforce development through training, upskilling, and change management initiatives.
  • Manage vendor relationships and technology partnerships to accelerate innovation and ensure interoperability.
  • Escalate digital risks and opportunities to executive leadership, providing strategic recommendations for resolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in digital transformation, data strategy, or AI/ML leadership roles, preferably supporting DoD or USSOCOM programs.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise data and AI initiatives in a defense or government contracting environment.
  • Deep understanding of DoD data strategy, AI ethical principles, and digital modernization frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government), data lakes, and AI/ML toolchains.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity compliance (e.g., NIST 800-53, CMMC, RMF) and data governance best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into mission impact.
  • Proficiency with data visualization, analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and AI development tools (e.g., Python, TensorFlow, SageMaker).
  • Ability to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations as required.

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or equivalent AI/ML certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or SAFe Agile certification
