Our plant in Tomahawk, WI manufactures, finishes and ships composite and plastic parts to our final assembly plants. Join us as a Manufacturing Controls Engineer - Automation/Robotics.

Job Summary

Develops and maintains advanced technical competence in the areas of Electrical Controls through benchmarking, analysis, project interaction, education and development of strategic partnerships. Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans. Guides and trains teams in efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities. Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an asset maintenance plan that includes value-added preventive maintenance tasks. Provides technical support for production, engineering, maintenance and technical personnel.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate projects that enhance machine reliability, productivity, consistent improvement in quality and operational safety.
  • Troubleshoot and repair automation equipment.
  • Lead Skill Trades activities.
  • Work with outside services regarding automation systems.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement systems.
  • Establish measurable goals for production equipment reliability and productivity improvements, measure and communicate performance to established goals.
  • Draw in expertise from the workforce to establish and attain goals.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of new machinery and reliability improvements.
  • Provide technical guidance, project direction and assistance to both hourly staff and Engineering personnel.

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Education Specifications

BS / AS Automation Engineering or Electromechanical technologies preferred

Experience Requirements

This position typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience.  In addition, a sucessful candidate will have demonstrated the following: 

  • Proven experience in PLC logic and programming with any of the following PLCs:
    • Allen Bradley
    • Automation Direct
    • Siemens S7
  • Robotics
    • Fanuc
    • Motoman
    • ABB
    • Kuka
  • HMI or SCADA programming configuration of any of the following software packages:
    • Wonderware
    • Rockwell FactoryTalk SE / ME
    • Ignition
    • Siemens
    • Rockwell Asset Center
  • VFD Drives
    • Allen Bradley
    • Yasakawa
  • Networking
    • Stratix switches
    • NATR 
  • Servers
    • Administration of production servers (Windows Server)
    • Patching
    • Managing software systems
  • Panel design and layout, bill of materials, and wiring schematic capabilities are expected with this position.
    • AutoCAD suites
  • The candidate must have experience reading and red-lining PI&D drawings.
  • Ideal experience would include:
    • Preliminary hazards analysis (PHA)
    • Failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)
    • Critical analysis (CA)
    • Life cycle asset management (LCAM)
    • Overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
    • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
    • Robot risk assessments (ISO)
