Job Title: Welding Robot Operator –

Job Description

This role operates, sets up, and maintains automated robotic welding equipment to produce high-quality welded metal components safely and efficiently. The Welding Robot Operator works on the 2nd shift and supports consistent, high-volume production by combining robotic programming skills with hands-on MIG and TIG welding expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Operate robotic welders to produce welded metal components in a safe, efficient, and consistent manner.
  • Set up robotic welding equipment, including fixtures, tooling, and programs, to meet production requirements.
  • Program robotic welders to perform precise welds according to welding procedure specifications (WPS) and engineering drawings.
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding as needed to support production, rework, or special projects.
  • Read and interpret WPS and engineering drawings to ensure welds meet quality and design requirements.
  • Monitor weld quality throughout the production process and make adjustments to programs or setups to maintain high standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with robotic welding cells, including equipment, programming, and process problems.
  • Maintain a methodical, organized, and precise approach to work to ensure repeatable, high-quality results.
  • Collaborate with team members to solve problems, improve processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on robotic welding equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Support fabrication activities related to pressure vessels and other welded assemblies as needed.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned to support production and plant operations.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in robot operation, with robotic welding experience strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience operating, setting up, and programming robotic welders.
  • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding in a production or fabrication environment.
  • Ability to read and apply welding procedure specifications (WPS).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong aptitude for problem solving in a production and automation environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Methodical, organized, and precise work style with strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive approach to identifying issues and proposing practical solutions.
  • Experience working with fabrication processes, including work on pressure vessels, is a plus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certification in welding is strongly preferred.
  • Experience and certification in welding in accordance with recognized standards is a plus.
  • Background in robotic programming for welding applications is beneficial.
  • Experience with fabrication of pressure vessels or similar complex welded assemblies is advantageous.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with expanding operations.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing facility that is organized, well kept, and currently expanding. The environment is non-climate-controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. You will work with automated robotic welding equipment, MIG and TIG welding tools, and fabrication machinery in a production setting. The regular schedule for this role is 2nd shift, from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday. Initial training takes place on a daytime schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The facility emphasizes safe operations, structured processes, and a clean, orderly workspace to support efficient and reliable production.
