Job description

Position: Service Engineer

Are you a hands-on problem solver who thrives on tackling real-world challenges in technology and innovation? If you have a passion for programming and troubleshooting advanced engineering systems, we’d love to meet you! Herzog is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the top performance of our state-of-the-art equipment across diverse industries, which includes steel, cement, non-ferrous metals, mining, recycling, and environmental monitoring.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

•          Install, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced automation and robotics in laboratory settings, ensuring our systems operate at peak performance.

•          Carry out planned maintenance schedules for clients, providing essential support to keep their operations running smoothly.

•          Respond promptly to unexpected service requests, using your expertise to resolve issues efficiently and effectively.

•          Apply critical thinking to diagnose complex equipment issues, using a variety of tools and resources.

•          Build positive client relationships, fostering trust and confidence in Herzog’s solutions.


Required Technical Skills and Experience

We’re looking for a candidate with:

•          Experience as a Service Technician, Automation Technician, Mechatronics Technician, or similar role in an industrial environment.

•          Basic to intermediate knowledge of PLC and HMI systems used in industrial automation.

•          Familiarity / Experience with Siemens control systems is considered an advantage.

•          Understanding of industrial software systems such as WinCC, SCADA, or related visualization and control platforms.

•          Experience troubleshooting automated equipment using electrical and diagnostic tools such as multimeters.

•          Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics and technical documentation.

•          Basic understanding of industrial communication and software environments.

•          General computer and Microsoft Office skills.

•          Experience with C++ or software programming is considered a plus, but not mandatory.

Required Personal Skills

•          Strong communicator who can collaborate with international engineering representatives.

•          Self-motivated, able to work both independently and with a team, and proactive in problem-solving.

•          Flexible and willing to travel extensively (approximately 70% of the time) across North America including travel to our factory in Germany.
