Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Safety:
    • Follows established safety protocols and procedures; provides continuous improvement ideas for safety
    • Wears Personal Protective Equipment and properly uses other safety equipment when required
    • Corrects safety discrepancies and reports any machine or plant safety concerns to the Production Lead
    • Ensures that work areas remain well organized and free of clutter
    • Maintains 5S and workplace organization standards including daily clean up and weekly tasks
  • Quality:
    • Meets established quality standards and follows quality procedures; provides continuous improvement ideas for quality
    • Corrects quality discrepancies and reports any quality concerns to the Production Lead
    • Ensures all Quality Checklists are properly completed 
  • Efficiency/Timelines:
    • Works efficiently and provides continuous improvement ideas for cost reduction and waste elimination
    • Responsible for accurate labor reporting
    • Completes work in a timely manner; advises the Production Lead if dates are not going to be met.
  • Training:
    • Trains other employees by following Delkor training system
  • Daily Responsibilities:
    • Performs machine assembly when needed
    • Confirms all information and testing materials, including product, are ready for the checkout team when checkout is scheduled to start
    • Navigates SolidWorks models and drawings to determine problem(s) and clarify the build process.
    • Completes a Production Concerns request when discrepancies are discovered.
    • Completes an Engineering Change Request (ECR) for machine continuous improvement ideas
    • Follows build book, change orders, ECNs and other documented requirements when checking out machines
    • Has general knowledge of third-party equipment and is able to integrate with Delkor equipment.
    • Troubleshoots mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues on machines in production.
    • Makes sure all ECNs have been installed on the machines and the ECN log has been properly updated
    • Works with the Production Manager and Lead for final hand off of machinery from assembly to checkout.
    • Works with Engineering, Production Leads and Managers and others to solve problems
    • Assists with crating and shipment of machines.
    • Performs all checkout and equipment testing functions on projects and several machines, including formers, closers and loaders.
    • Properly returns stock parts on machine build/machine checkout.
    • Operates the forklift on the assembly floor (if certified).
    • Understands parts shortages and priorities and communicates shortages as appropriate
    • Assists with the development of checkout procedures and standard time requirements.
    • Medium specialization on specific types of equipment.
  • Performs other tasks or duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Two-year Automated Packaging degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years in packaging machinery assembly with experience as a Service Technician, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in checking out Delkor equipment and a demonstrated knowledge of a full range of Delkor Equipment

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including SyteLine, Web client, Solid works, Synchrono, & Microsoft Office products
  • Must have successfully completed the in house electrical training course.
  • Familiar with Program Logic Controller (PLC) and RS Logics Series 5000.
  • Experience in using various types of pneumatic and electrical tools, grinders, band saw, sanders, lifting and moving devices, saws and drills including an assortment of hand tools.
  • Ability to read, understand, and analyze machine drawings.
  • Able to train other people.
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Interpersonal Communication

  • Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and/or non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately.
  • Works well with a variety of people and personalities, and with other Delkor departments.
  • Works collaboratively, as a team member, to suggest ideas and resolve issues in a positive manner.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for a majority of the day.
  • Speak and hear to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication in person or using the telephone; exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately to co-workers, managers, vendors and others inside and outside the company.
  • Apply physical mobility (reaching, bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, arm and leg extension) to perform all assembly production activities.
  • Possess extensive arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, hold, reach, carry, push and pull parts. Also able to move parts, tools, equipment and materials in and out of vehicles.
  • Lift 40 pounds regularly; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • See and judge distances and space relationships to successfully complete detailed activities to find tolerances, including reading written plans and other documents.

Work Environment

  • Ninety percent (90%) of the job duties are performed on the assembly floor with exposure to tools, dirt, dust, chemicals, metals and plastics, varying temperatures, construction noises and odors from production processes.
  • Ten percent (10%) of the work is performed in an office setting, carrying out detailed work sitting at a desk and working on the computer, or working at an office table.

Tools and Equipment

  • Operate all tools typically used on an assembly floor. Must be familiar with proper rigging techniques. 
  • Use of general office equipment such as computer, printer, telephone, copiers, e-mail, and other such equipment.

Pay Range

  • The hourly salary range for this position is $­­­­­­­­­34.00 - $40.00 per hour. At Delkor, we are committed to ensuring that each employee’s compensation reflects their experience, performance, and skills relevant to their current role. This salary range accounts for various factors considered in the hiring process, including but not limited to education, skills, work experience, and certifications. As a result, the final salary offer for the selected candidate(s) may fall anywhere within this range.
  • Robotic System Test Technician II or III are eligible for a $12,000 sign on bonus.
