It involves various stages such as surveying, designing, site preparation, laying foundations, and paving with materials like asphalt or concrete. The work is typically carried out by civil engineers, construction workers, and heavy machinery operators. Road construction ensures safe and efficient transportation by creating and maintaining the infrastructure needed for vehicles and pedestrians. Proper road construction also considers factors like drainage, traffic flow, and environmental impact.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in road construction?

To thrive in Road Construction, you need a solid understanding of construction techniques, blueprint reading, and safety regulations, often supported by a high school diploma or vocational training.
