Education and training are the primary qualifications for a registered nurse working at an immunization clinic. You need either an associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing, known respectively as an ADN or BSN. Upon graduating from an accredited nursing program, you must sit for exams and obtain state licensure. Some clinics require that you earn a master’s degree in nursing to practice. Each state has varying requirements for practicing RNs, so be certain to check carefully for the requirements in your state or locality. Critical thinking and communications skills are vital to this position, as is a compassionate bedside manner.
