Familiarity with behavioral health EHRs, de-escalation techniques, and safety protocols is essential. Outstanding communication, empathy, and resilience are soft skills that help build trust with patients and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. These skills are crucial for ensuring patient safety, promoting recovery, and managing complex behavioral health situations.

RNs in behavioral health often encounter challenges such as managing unpredictable patient behaviors, de-escalating crises, and balancing documentation with direct patient care.
