TNAA TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Louisville, Kentucky.

Job Description & Requirements

UNIT:  PCU
 Manager approval


Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
o   BLS, NIHSS


Skills required:
o   Blood Admin, skeletal, bucks traction, drains, JP, CT, wound dressings, wound vac management, wound care. Heparin gtt, high flow, stable bipap, PCA pain management.


Technology/Equipment:
o   EMR: Cerner
o   IV Pump: Plum ICU Medical
o   Med dispensing: Omnicell
o   Monitors: Phillips
o   Unit specific equipment: sera steady, Arjo lifts, kangaroo pump, sapphire pump for PCA

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o   Surgical patients (GI, Ortho, Trauma, GYN/ONC, etc.), sickle cell, general medical

Patient Ratios:
o   RN: 1:4-6
o   LPN: yes
o   CNA: 2 CNA’s per shift, 1 clerical during the day


Unit Information:
o   Beds: 26
▪        8-12 DC a day
o   Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years STAC required, 3 preferred
o   Will you accept a first-time traveler? no


Support within the Department:
o   CNA
o   Receptionist
o   Charge nurse Keep RN out of staffing to oversee 12 patients with LPN at optimal staffing
o   Phlebotomy staffing dependent, nursing may be responsible for lab collections
o   Vascular access team
o   Resource teams: Sepsis and rapid
o   Shift coordinator during the day
o   RT 24/
o   Hospitalist 24/7 residents
o   Specialists 24/7 residents
o   Intensivist 24/7
o   Remote Telemetry monitoring

Floating: If yes, where?
o   Float to mixed acuity only


Scheduling:
o   Weekend rotation: every other weekend
o   On call No 
o   Holiday Expectations: based on scheduled days from facility
o   All RTO through manager, especially around holiday weeks

o   Scrub Color: Galaxy Blue
o   Parking: free onsite flat lot with badge access
