Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Power Studies Engineer to join our T amp;D Engineering and Consulting team.
In this role, you’ll independently lead complex modeling, analysis, and reporting for power system studies that support generation, transmission, and distribution facilities. You’ll collaborate with engineering teams, guide technical study execution, and contribute to continuous process improvement and quality assurance across every project.

What You’ll Do:
  • Perform and lead a variety of studies based on your concentration, including power flow, transient stability, dynamic studies, short-circuit, EMT, harmonics, and techno-economics across T amp;D and generator applications
  • Build and refine scripts to streamline the study process, improve efficiency, and reduce rework
  • Guide team members in understanding technical and commercial study components, including billable hours and delivery standards
  • Apply and share deep knowledge of power system rules, standards, tariffs, and first-principle-based design
  • Protect sensitive technical and commercial data throughout transmission, computation, and storage in alignment with agreements
  • Coordinate project setup and closeout activities with supervisors and support staff
  • Monitor logged hours weekly, proactively identifying risks to the project budget
  • Facilitate or attend meetings with prepared materials to address technical or workload concerns
  • Submit time reporting promptly and accurately to support payroll and accounting teams
  • Communicate consistently with leadership on priorities, goals, and open items
The Experience We’re Looking For:
  • 5–10 years of experience performing power system studies and simulations
  • Strong skills in team leadership, delegation, and technical project oversight
  • Familiarity with utility standards, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot problems using a mix of technical judgment and software tools
  • Proficient in math operations relevant to power systems and engineering reports
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel for generating tables and visuals for technical documentation
  • Strong reading comprehension and written communication for reports, procedures, and manuals
  • Capable of presenting findings in Microsoft PowerPoint and writing reports in Word
  • Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills with cross-functional teams and clients
Additional Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for meetings or field visits as needed
  • Able to sit for long periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform office-related physical tasks
  • Proficiency in English is required for speaking, reading, writing, and computer use

  • Master’s or Doctorate in Electrical Engineering
  • Engineer-in-Training certification or pursuit of PE licensure
  • Experience with advanced simulation tools and power system software platforms
