Job description

The RMS Applications Engineer (RMS AE) is responsible for providing in-depth, technical, application support to the North America (NA) Radiation Monitoring System (RMS) sales and operations teams. The RMS AE will take lead on developing detailed technical proposals for the RMS product line, and upon contract award will assist RMS project managers in the development of systems requirement specifications to drive project execution and will provide technical review to the RMS operations group to ensure compliance to the proposal and to customer specifications. The ASM will assist with the development/delivery of customer technical/sales presentations and detailed product demonstrations in support of product sales. The RMS AE will develop and conduct technical training to the sales/service/support team and sales support staff as necessary.
ESSENTIALDUTIES:
  • Review customer RFQ/RFP packages, identify the most appropriate Mirion solutions, including custom solutions, and prepare detailed proposals outlining the Mirion solution.
  • Attend meetings with customers to answer questions, and to negotiate changes to the technical proposal and/or the customer's specification.
  • Drives proposal effort including writing, estimating (with PM & other operations staff), T&C review (with legal staff) and final submission to customer.
  • Following contract award, assist the operations team by:
    • Developing a detailed system requirements specification to provide a roadmap for delivery of the RMS solution that was proposed.
    • Assist in the review of project drawings with a focus on adherence to the customer's specification and Mirion proposed solution.
    • Assist in the review and creation of project documents with a focus on adherence to the customer's specification and Mirion proposed solution. Typical documents may include system operating manuals, FMEAs, configuration documents, specification compliance matrices, MCNP analyses, etc.
    • Develop and maintain a compliance matrix tracing each customer specification requirement to the relevant Mirion documentation.
  • Assist sales support staff with review of spare parts & service quotes for technical & QA adequacy.
  • Participate in walkdowns of customer sites as part of ongoing engagement (see below), during an open bid, or following contract award. Depending on the nature of the visit, visits may be with sales/sales reps, project management, or independent.
  • Together with the sales team and external agents, maintain engagement with current and prospective customers to provide technical input to specification development, and to keep informed of customer project status, staff changes, etc. Mirion seeks to position itself as a partner to our customers, working with them to define the most technically appropriate (not necessarily the highest price) solutions for their RMS applications.
  • Will attend relevant industry conferences, symposia, standards committee meetings, etc. to represent Mirion and to remain informed of industry trends

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must possess a minimum of ten (10) years' experience in the nuclear industry or in a related high technology field.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of radiation detection fundamentals.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the nuclear industry and the specific needs (industry standard, regulations, etc.) of the nuclear industry.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to function independently.
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally.
  • Must be well-organized and ensure that customer commitments are met on a timely basis.

EXPERIENCEANDEDUCATIONALREQUIREMENTS
Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics, Physics/Nuclear Physics or related field and 10 years of experience in nuclear related field. Lesser years of experience and/or BS degree will be considered for specialized background particularly suited to the role.
