About the Role

Are you a CMA who loves working with kids? Our pediatric practice is looking for a dedicated professional to join our clinical team. In this role, you are the bridge between our families and our providers. Youโ€™ll be responsible for ensuring our "little patients" feel safe and brave while providing the high-quality clinical support our doctors rely on.


What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Clinical Support: Room patients, take accurate vitals (height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure), and document chief complaints in the EHR.
  • Procedures: Administer pediatric immunizations and medications as directed by the provider.
  • Lab Work: Perform point-of-care testing (strep, flu, COVID, urinalysis) and finger-stick blood draws (lead/hemoglobin).
  • Patient Education: Provide basic after-care instructions and triage phone calls to assist parents with medical concerns.
  • Office Flow: Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and ensure all medical equipment is sanitized and calibrated daily.

What You Bring

  • Certification: Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or RMA) is required.
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience in a clinical setting; Pediatric experience is highly preferred.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of the Florida immunization schedule and Florida SHOTS (DH Form 680) is a major plus.
  • The "Pediatric Touch": You must be comfortable working with newborns through young adults and have the patience to handle "needle phobia" and high-energy kiddos.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks, Athena, or Office Ally).

Essential Functions Of Position

A. Clinical Responsibilities

  • Room patient and ensure all necessary information is documented
  • Assist the physician with clinical procedures
  • Call in prescriptions as warranted
  • Administer basic first aid
  • Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the physician
  • Perform basic laboratory procedures
  • Clean and sterilize clinical instruments before the close of each day
  • Accurately triage patients according to procedure before being examined by the physician, verify that every medication and the strength is consistent with the chart information
  • Responsible for calling patients after a prescription (new or refill) has been called in to reiterate the pharmacy to which the prescription has been called in as well as the directions prescribed for the medication
  • Communicate/follow up with patients about lab results
  • Conduct phone triage of patients


B. Clerical Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing inbox in the EMR to make sure all issues are processed appropriately by the close of business
  • Responsible for checking and re-stocking supplies
  • Responsible for assisting in patient flow by reviewing charts on the schedule for the next business day, ensuring all information is correct and all procedures have been accurately completed
  • Complete all referrals including all authorization processes for individual insurances
  • Complete health forms and shot records as needed


C. Safety

  • Wear Company badge during work hours
  • Report any safety and/or OSHA violations witnessed to the Office Manager
  • Comply with OSHA standards


D. Cooperation

  • Coordinate duties with other staff members
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with co-workers within and outside of the company
  • Assist with nursing and receptionist duties in their absence and /or heavy patient load
  • Assist the physician with patient care and any other duties as assigned


E. Judgment

  • Comply with HIPAA and all Company policies
  • Report any violations witnessed while working to the appropriate personnel


F. Reliability

  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion
  • Punctual and efficient
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday 8a-5p, with some occasional overtime
  • Valid Florida CMA/RMA certificate/registration - Trade School Certification accepted
  • Ability to perform clinical procedures such as venipunctures, non-intravenous injections, etc.
  • Current healthcare provider training (BLS)
  • Ability to articulate and communicate effectively in person, in e-mail and on the phone
  • Computer proficiency; knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone skills and etiquette
  • Strong interpersonal, decision making and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with others and under pressure
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)


Physical Requirements of Position

  • a) Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
  • b) Must be able to effectively communicate with peers, supervisor, clients and the public
  • c) Occasional bending, stooping, lifting and stretching
  • d) Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to perform tasks required by the physician, such as operating office medical equipment
  • e) Will be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment
  • f) Must be able to perform bending, stooping, lifting, stretching and other physical activities involved in assisting patients
  • g) May experience traumatic situations including psychiatric, dismembered and deceased patients
