LPN Job Summary

  • The LPN within the Clinic is accountable for providing high quality professional care to patients and families under the supervision of the provider in their scope of practice.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Board of Nursing An active license in the state of practice

Work Schedule

  • Clinic hours: 8:00am-5:00pm; 72 hours every 2 weeks

A Brief Overview
Performs selected medical assistant and clerical duties that assist in care for clinic patients following established standards, practices, and competency. Works collaboratively with other clinic staff to solve practice-related problems. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient/customer‘s status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department.
What you will do

  • Assists in care to patients as directed by provider based on competency.
  • Provides accurate, completed, legible and timely documentation of all patient procedures in the medical record.
  • Maintains timely flow of patients.
  • Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. Responsible for assisting with patient and family education to include procedures, medication use, nutrition, disease processes, and maintenance of health and wellness, etc., based on competency.
  • Greets patients and conducts clinical interview collecting history and vital signs.
  • Labels and processes lab specimens according to lab procedures.
  • Maintains exam room for necessary supplies and materials. Performs daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipment quality control and maintenance. Cleans and sterilizes medical equipment according to policy. Follows correct procedures for handling and disposing of bio-hazardous infectious waste.
  • Provided back-up help for front desk personnel. This may include answering telephone, scheduling and cancelling appointments, and scheduling consult patients.

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Upon Hire or
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT) Upon Hire or
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Upon Hire

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Associate‘s Graduate of Medical Assistant program or diploma
