Base Pay Range: $22.21 - $30.54

Position Summary

The RMA Electronics Technician  diagnoses and repairs sensors returned on RMAs, updates firmware and hardware on sensors, performs routine servicing and inspection on sensors, helps maintain and organize equipment, and gives direction to the materials handlers in the RMA area.

This position reports to Quality Control Inspection Manager.

According to the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), this position is classified as:

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Inspects finished goods returned on new product RMAs and upgrades hardware/firmware to get items ready to return to stock
  • Diagnoses and repairs complex electronic problems for sensors returned on RMAs
  • Uses a combination of electronic schematics and Engineering resources to discover the root cause of failures in electronic circuits
  • Uses well rounded knowledge in the use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, and function generators to document problems on sensors that are returned on RMA
  • Uses multiple software programs to aid in the analysis of sensor operation and repair
  • Performs special functional tests to ensure returned products are operating to specification
  • Give recommendations on warranty coverage using results of analysis
  • Communicates with the Customer Service Team to get complete information on why a sensor was returned on an RMA to ensure that it’s fixed right the first time
  • Writes Failure Analysis Reports for the Engineering Teams
  • Assists the RMA coordinator with checking in new RMAs, issuing credit, and shipping items back to customers

Required

  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics or Engineering related field
  • Significant technical experience in a quality role that involved failure analysis
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to determine the basic function of an electronic circuit
  • Good knowledge of the operation of basic electronic components; such as diodes, transistors, FETs, resistors, capacitors, inductors, transformers, and ICs
  • Good knowledge of how to operate basic electronic testing devices; such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, and power supplies
  • Ability to work under pressure for throughput while maintaining quality standards
  • General proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
