What is a Rive job?

A Rive job typically involves working with Rive, a design and animation tool used to create interactive vector animations for apps, games, and websites. Professionals in this field often design animations, implement motion graphics, and integrate them into digital products. They may work as motion designers, UI/UX animators, or developers specializing in animated experiences. Rive jobs require skills in animation, vector graphics, and coding for interactivity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Rive Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Rive Designer, you need strong skills in animation, vector illustration, and interactive design, often supported by experience with motion graphics and a portfolio of digital work. Proficiency in using the Rive app, knowledge of state machines, and familiarity with integrating Rive assets into platforms like Flutter or web applications are important. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication with developers and team members are standout soft skills. These abilities ensure engaging, high-quality interactive animations that integrate smoothly into digital products, enhancing user experience.

How do Rive designers typically collaborate with developers during the animation integration process?

Rive designers often work closely with developers to ensure that interactive animations are smoothly integrated into applications or websites. This collaboration usually involves sharing Rive files, discussing animation triggers, and making adjustments based on technical constraints or user experience feedback. Communication is key, as designers must understand the platform’s limitations and developers may request tweaks for performance or responsiveness. Regular meetings and feedback loops help both sides align on project goals and deliver high-quality, interactive experiences.

What is a Rive designer/developer?

A Rive designer or developer is a professional who specializes in using Rive, an interactive design and animation tool used for creating real-time animations for apps, games, and web experiences. These specialists create vector-based animations that can be easily integrated into various platforms and respond to user interactions. Rive designers often collaborate with developers to bring interactive UI elements and animations to life, enhancing the user experience in digital products.

Job description

Placement Type:
Temporary
Salary:
$57.48-63.87 Hourly
up to $63.87/hr
Start Date:
May 20, 2026
Aquent is partnering with a leading global technology company to find a Technical Motion Designer for a high-visibility product design team. This role is ideal for someone who sits at the intersection of motion design, product UX, and front-end implementation.
This is not a traditional motion graphics role. The right person will build interactive animation systems for real product experiences, not just create static exports or concept work. You will help shape how motion behaves, responds, and scales across digital product surfaces while partnering closely with design and engineering teams.
What You'll Do
  • Build and implement interactive animations across product surfaces using a real-time animation platform
  • Translate motion concepts into production-ready assets
  • Own animation logic, state machines, and data binding within interactive animation files
  • Optimize motion systems for performance, scalability, and reusability
  • Partner with visual designers, motion designers, and engineers to bring product experiences to life
  • Help define best practices for how motion is built and implemented
  • Support tools and workflows that allow designers to modify animation files at runtime
Must-Have Qualifications
  • 7 to 10+ years of experience in motion design, UX motion, product design, creative technology, front-end animation, or a related field
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Rive or a comparable real-time interactive animation platform, with Rive strongly preferred/required for this role.
  • Experience designing and implementing state machines
  • Experience using advanced data binding, logic, and complex interactive animation systems
  • Strong understanding of animation principles, including timing, easing, choreography, and interaction behavior
  • Experience integrating animation into real products, not just prototypes
  • Strong front-end engineering skills, preferably with JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across design and engineering teams
  • Ability to debug, iterate, and refine motion in a technical product environment
  • Portfolio or work examples showing interactive animation, product motion, technical motion, or motion systems
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience with React, React Native, or similar front-end frameworks
  • Familiarity with traditional motion tools such as After Effects
  • Experience building design systems or reusable motion systems
  • Interest in real-time, interactive, or generative animation
  • Experience creating scalable motion tools, workflows, or runtime modification systems
