Job description

Morris & Ritchie Associates, Inc. (MRA) is seeking a talented Water/Wastewater Designer with 5+ years of experience to join our growing Water/Wastewater Group in Abingdon, Maryland. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of impactful municipal infrastructure projects in a collaborative and team-oriented environment.

In this role, you will partner with engineers, project managers, and technical staff to develop innovative and comprehensive designs for water and wastewater facilities, while also supporting projects through the construction phase. The ideal candidate will have experience contributing to the design and delivery of pump stations, force mains, collection/distribution systems, and related utility infrastructure, and will thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment focused on quality, collaboration, and client service.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead schematic, conceptual, and detailed design of water and wastewater facilities, including sewage pumping stations, force mains, water booster stations, and collection/distribution systems
  • Prepare construction documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, permit applications, and engineering reports for water and wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Provide construction phase services and coordinate with internal teams, municipalities, contractors, regulatory agencies, and clients throughout project execution
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, proposals, and multidisciplinary project teams while ensuring quality deliverables and adherence to deadlines
  • Utilize AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D to support engineering design and system analysis for municipal water and wastewater projects
  • Apply strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills in a fast-paced engineering environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering REQUIRED
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D REQUIRED
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing project schedules and deadlines
  • Experience with the design and delivery of water/wastewater infrastructure projects is highly preferred
