Job description

Risk Manager, Enterprise Payments Risk Management
Do you want to be part of an organization that's dedicated to helping Capital One identify, manage and effectively mitigate risk - for our customers, our communities and our associates? As part of Operational Risk Management (ORM), you'll work with talented associates to provide oversight and effective challenge to ensure that our business partners are adequately managing risk when initiating and processing payments (e.g. ACH, Wire Transfers, checks, etc.). Additionally, you will support the integration of new acquisitions and ensure adoption of ORM policies and standards. You'll also bring your unique perspective and experiences to help us be rigorous, curious, and creative.
Successful Risk Managers have a natural passion for managing risk with excellent project, process, and analytical skills. Risk Managers partner with first- and second-line partners in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded. The ideal candidate will bring a big picture perspective and have a high degree of autonomy within their daily work.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide Payments Risk consulting and effective challenge focused on Stablecoin and other payment initiatives and projects, providing an understanding of payments risks and activities, specifically Stablecoin
  • Develop and leverage key relationships with cross-functional teams and key first line of defense contacts, providing advice and effective challenge, as required.
  • Conduct Issue/Event analysis by observing trends and providing insights on changes to the Payments Risk environment across the enterprise.
  • Demonstrates independent and adaptive problem-solving and analysis skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, collaboration, problem solving and influencing skills across various levels of the organization.
  • Manage tasks and activities related to risk management initiatives and reporting to support the Enterprise Payments Risk Management team in a well-managed capacity
  • Research and identify external risk themes related to payments.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors' Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in a first-line or second-line risk management role supporting payments processes
  • At least 2 years of direct experience with stablecoin payments or crypto-asset risk management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience with stablecoin payments or experience managing adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • 3+ years of Financial Services risk management experience within the Payments Risk or Payment Operations domain, with depth of knowledge in stablecoin regulatory frameworks
  • Certification within the payments industry (Accredited Payments Risk Professional (APRP), National Check Professional (NCP), Accredited ACH Professional (AAP), Accredited Faster Payments Professional (AFPP)).

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400 for Risk Manager
Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700 for Risk Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
