Job description

Senior Risk Manager

As a Senior Risk Manager you will apply your project management and analytical skills to our highest profile Risk Management projects. You will lead a team of Risk Specialists responsible for working across the enterprise to develop and implement cutting edge Risk solutions to ensure Capital One's continued stability and success. Senior Risk Managers partner with Executives and their teams to identify potential Risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded.


Senior Risk Managers at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent project management and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.


Responsibilities:

  • Understanding, documenting and analyzing current state capabilities regarding one or more Risk methods. Leverage industry benchmarking to determine best practices and lessons learned regarding components of the Risk framework.

  • Write and revise documents such as policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. Develop and enhance processes, tools, templates, and job aides. Write, contribute to, edit, and deliver presentations that aide in the design, development, refinement, and usage of Risk methods.

  • Collaborate effectively across multiple organizations such as Operational Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Business Risk Offices, Operational Risk Sub-Steward organizations, Information Technology, Basel Program, Internal Audit, Regulator Relations, etc. to achieve objectives.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 6 years of Financial Services Risk Management Experience

  • At least 6 years of Project Management experience

  • At least 7 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Project Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk

  • 7+ years of Financial Services Risk Management Experience

  • PMP Certification or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM)

  • Ability to set direction, manage expectations and lead cross-functional teams

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $177,700 - $202,800 for Sr. Risk Manager


Richmond, VA: $161,500 - $184,300 for Sr. Risk Manager










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
