Short Description

The CDU Flow Manager's primary responsibility will be to facilitate flow through the CDU and the EXAU. This position will delegate care to the CDU and EXAU care teams and assign patients, ensuring that workload is balanced and delegates tasks appropriately, employing resources as needed to assure quality and efficient care. Ensures the delivery of patient care through the coordination of customer services and the leadership and management of the Express Admit Unit and Clinical Decision Unit at the direction of the Clinical Director. This position assists the Clinical Director in coordinating interdepartmental and ancillary activities to ensure quality, cost-effective patient care. Assists the Clinical Director in leading the patient care team to meet the needs of the customers and to achieve departmental objectives. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the direction and implementation of patient care services within the Express Admit Unit and Clinical Decision Unit at the direction of the Clinical Director and in their absence.

Overview

The Clinical Decision Unit is on the first floor of the Kelemen building. We are a locked unit and require a badge to enter or ring the doorbell to be let in. The Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) is a35-bed, single-room unit.The patients are typically here for observation or if needed to be admitted as an inpatient they will stay in CDU until a floor bed is available.  

Multidisciplinary rounds are done Monday - Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities.  

The Express Admit Unit (EXAU) is under the management of the CDU. There are 6-bed areas where the admitted patients stay until a floor bed is available. This gives them privacy and care while waiting for their room to be available. 

Both CDU and EXAU can have patients on telemetry for cardiac monitoring. 

Experience Required

A minimum of 2 years of clinical RN experience in a similar acute care unit, with 1 year of demonstrated leadership abilities.

Education Requirements

Graduate from an NLN accredited school of nursing. 

Bachelor's in Nursing or active pursuit preferred.

License/Certification Requirements

NJ-RN: Current New Jersey license as a Registered Nurse

BLS certification, ACLS, Basic Dysrhythmia required

Special Requirements

Full time, 12pm-12am, rotating weekends and holidays.
