To thrive as a Rigging Manager, you need in-depth knowledge of rigging principles, heavy lifting operations, and relevant safety regulations, often supported by certifications such as NCCCO or equivalent. Familiarity with rigging hardware, load calculation software, and safety management systems is typically required. What is a rigging manager?

Rigging managers are professionals responsible for overseeing all aspects of rigging operations in industries like entertainment, construction, or manufacturing. They coordinate and supervise the setup, maintenance, and safety of rigging equipment used to lift, move, or secure heavy loads or stage elements. Rigging managers ensure compliance with safety standards, manage rigging crews, and often work closely with engineers, event organizers, or production teams. Their expertise helps prevent accidents and ensures that all rigging tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

How does a rigging manager typically collaborate with other departments during large-scale productions?

A Rigging Manager works closely with departments such as lighting, sound, and set design to ensure all rigging elements are safely and efficiently integrated into the production. They coordinate schedules, communicate technical requirements, and address safety protocols with team leads to prevent overlaps or hazards. Effective collaboration requires regular meetings, clear documentation, and adaptability, as last-minute changes often occur. This teamwork is essential for achieving seamless load-ins, performances, and load-outs on major events or productions.
