Job description

Senior Accountant
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology seeksa detail-oriented and collaborative Senior Accountant to join the FinancialAffairs Department. We have been ranked No. 1 among U.S. engineering collegesby the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Guide for the last 27consecutive years.
This position is responsible forpreparing and analyzing financial and operational information to supportregulatory filings, external reporting requirements, and institutionaldecision-making. The Senior Accountant researches applicable accounting andreporting requirements to ensure compliance with federal, state, andinstitutional standards, while monitoring deadlines and reporting obligationsto support timely and accurate submissions.
The Senior Accountant oversees thepreparation of assigned sections of the Institute's annual financial statementsand related footnotes, ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted AccountingPrinciples (GAAP) and other relevant reporting standards. This role coordinatesaudit-related activities, including the preparation of supporting documentationand responses to inquiries from internal and external auditors. In addition,the position prepares a variety of recurring and ad hoc financial reports andassists with the design, implementation, and execution of internal control andaudit functions to promote the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Working closely with campusstakeholders, the Senior Accountant supports the development and administrationof the Institute's annual operating and capital budgets. Responsibilitiesinclude maintaining budget records, processing adjustments and updates,configuring and supporting budgeting and financial reporting systems, andproviding financial information and guidance to budget managers across campus.The position serves as a resource for financial reporting and budget-relatedquestions, helping departments effectively manage resources and make informedfinancial decisions.
This position also performs generalaccounting functions, including reconciling assigned general ledger accounts,preparing and posting adjusting journal entries, and analyzing revenue andexpense activity. The Senior Accountant monitors financial transactions foraccuracy and completeness, identifies trends or discrepancies, and recommendscorrective actions when necessary. Successful candidates will demonstratestrong analytical skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the abilityto communicate complex financial information clearly to a variety of audienceswhile contributing to the Institute's mission of excellence in education andstewardship of resources.
Qualified candidates will have abachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, alongwith five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in accountingand financial management. The successful candidate will possess stronganalytical, project management, process improvement, and organizational skills,as well as advanced proficiency with accounting systems, databases, andspreadsheet applications. Demonstrated ability to work independently, managemultiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment is essential. Musthave the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures,governmental regulations, financial statements, and legal documents. Strongwritten and verbal communication skills are necessary, including the ability toprepare and present financial reports, business correspondence, policies,procedures, and other documentation.
Preferred candidates will have amaster's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration and eightyears of significant experience in accounting and financial management. Experience working in a privatecollege or university setting is preferred. Knowledge of Ellucian Banner isdesired. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and theability to effectively present information and respond to questions arenecessary; the ability to interact with various levels of personnel isessential.

Salary range is $63,000 - $82,000. Salary is competitive.A higher salary may be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
