Position Location
This position is based in Fallon, Nevada.
Job Overview
Possess the necessary licenses and experience to transfer Company equipment to job sites located on/off of the Base. Operates heavy equipment such as road graders, rollers, heavy loaders, trac-hoes, backhoes, bulldozers, and other large industrial equipment. Equipment is used to excavate, load, or move dirt, gravel, or other material and equipment at various job sites. This entails pickup and delivery of materials and equipment.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
  • Operator may read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans.
  • May make emergency and minor mechanical repairs, if needed, in the field.
  • Performs WHE and MHE tasks as required
  • Performs rigging service in accordance with navy crane center and OSHA regulations
  • Operates cranes, loaders, bulldozers, and backhoes.
  • Performs pre-operational checks such as oil, transmission fluid, tires for wear and air, cooling systems, hydraulic systems, and adds fluids as needed.
  • Inspects lights, belts, hoses, undercarriage, brakes, and all safety items.
  • Reports any discrepancies.
  • Performs minor mechanical repairs and performs required lubrication for equipment being used, when necessary.
  • Assist in the cleaning of fleet vehicles and keeping all equipment clean.
  • Assist in dumpster relocation and maintenance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • Class "A" Commercial Driver's License with no restrictions and 2 years of documented experience.
  • Two years of documented experience as a heavy equipment operator.
  • Minimum high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Must be able to comprehend, read, speak and write fluently in the English language.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Sanitary and storm sewer excavation, installation, and repair experience.
  • Road construction and repair experience.
  • Ability to operate forklifts up to 32,000 pounds.
  • Possess an OSHA 10 card or have the ability to get one within the first 90 days of employment.

Preferred:
  • Hazardous Materials Endorsement.
  • Tank Vehicle Endorsement.
  • Passenger Endorsement.
  • Crane operation experience.
  • Snowplow/sanding operations.
  • Airfield runway and flight line driving experience.
  • Refuse collection experience.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
  • Work hours are subject to change, with overtime work as needed.
  • Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, dust odors, and elevated noise levels.
  • Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, cement structures and surfaces.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision.
  • Willing to work shift work.

Physical Requirements:
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time; sit; use hands and fingers; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • Capable of lifting and/or moving up to 70 lbs.
