Job Summary

The Rigger performs hands-on rigging tasks in support of heavy haul, hydraulic jacking, and jack-and-slide operations utilizing HT-500 jacking and skid systems. This role is responsible for safely setting up, operating, and tearing down rigging hardware, HT-500 jacks, and skid systems under the direction of the Boss Rigger or Rigging Foreman. The Rigger follows engineered lift plans and site safety procedures to move, lift, jack, and skid heavy equipment, structures, and modules.

Key Responsibilities

Rigging & Heavy Haul Operations

  • Set up, inspect, and operate rigging hardware including slings, shackles, spreader bars, chain falls, come-alongs, and wire rope.

  • Attach and detach rigging hardware to loads per lift plan instructions and supervisor direction.

  • Conduct pre-use inspections of rigging gear and HT-500 jacking equipment; report defective or damaged equipment immediately.
  • Participate in pre-job safety meetings (JSAs/tailgate meetings) and follow all instructions from the Boss Rigger or Foreman.
  • Maintain awareness of pinch points, load stability, and ground bearing conditions during jacking and sliding operations.
  • Wear and properly use required PPE at all times.

Coordination & Communication

  • Communicate clearly with crane operators, equipment operators, and fellow riggers using proper hand signals and radio protocol.
  • Work as part of a crew to safely execute heavy haul, jacking, and HT-500 skidding moves per the lift plan.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or deviations from the plan to the Boss Rigger or Foreman immediately.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 1–3 years of rigging experience; heavy haul, jacking, or skidding experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience operating HT-500 jack-and-slide systems strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of rigging hardware, sling angles, and basic load calculations.
  • Rigger/Signal Person certification (NCCCO or equivalent) preferred or required per site.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic jacking systems, skid systems, or SPMTs a plus.
  • OSHA 10 certification (OSHA 30 a plus).
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work safely as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, at heights, and in confined or industrial environments.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites, including extended assignments.
