Job description

Piper Companies is seeking a VoIP Engineer - SBC to join a federal program onsite at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. This position involves advanced Session Border Controller (SBC) engineering, carrier-grade VoIP integration, and policy management using PSX for secure and reliable telephony services. The ideal candidate will bring extensive SBC experience from a carrier or large-scale enterprise environment and hold an active Secret Clearance . Responsibilities for the VoIP Engineer - SBC: * Act as an onsite engineering resource, delivering expert support for SBC and VoIP systems.
* Configure, implement, and maintain SBC platforms and PSX policy servers to enable SIP trunking, routing, and security.
* Perform carrier-level SBC integration tasks, including SIP normalization, header manipulation, and policy enforcement.
* Troubleshoot complex SIP-layer issues using packet captures, call flow analysis, and diagnostic tools.
* Assist with TDM-to-SIP migration projects, conduct lab testing for new SBC software/firmware, and validate interoperability.
* Collaborate with voice and network teams to ensure system reliability and compliance with federal standards.
Required Qualifications for the VoIP Engineer - SBC: * 5+ years of experience in VoIP engineering and SBC deployment, preferably in carrier or enterprise environments.
* Strong understanding of SIP protocol, including interpreting SIP messaging and resolving call flow issues.
* Hands-on experience with SBC platforms and PSX policy server configuration.
* Familiarity with SIP trunking, routing policies, and carrier-grade interconnect requirements.
* Proficiency with packet capture tools (e.g., Wireshark) for SIP-layer troubleshooting.
* Must be U.S. work eligible and maintain an Active Secret Clearance.
* Knowledge of Cisco CUBE SBC, CUCM provisioning, and PSX systems.
