Job description

The Corporate Events Set Designer is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing scenic environments, trade show displays, and event sets that support both new business acquisition and ongoing client projects. This individual works directly with the creative team and collaborates closely with sales, production, and technical staff to ensure all designs are visually compelling, functional, and seamlessly integrate A/V technology with scenic and staging elements.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the creative team to translate client needs and project objectives into innovative scenic solutions.
  • As a strategic 3D problem solver, the candidate should be comfortable developing multiple thoughtful solutions—leveraging existing inventory while also collaborating with the team to tackle unique and unconventional challenges.
  • Interface with the technical and operations teams to ensure designs are compatible with lighting, audio, video, staging and rigging requirements.
  • Bring bold, imaginative thinking and a constant flow of fresh ideas. The ideal candidate not only generates compelling concepts, but can confidently articulate their vision, defend their ideas, and inspire others to believe in them.
  • Candidates should have computer drafting/drawing experience with an eye for proportion and perspective; ideally display a visually interesting hand or digital style in rendering concepts.
  • Candidates should be realistic in their planning. They must have a respect and understanding of materials, budgets, and feasibility; and find creative ways to incorporate/reconfigure a diverse existing scenic inventory.
  • Participate in onsite event execution as needed, collaborating with production and technical teams to deliver high-quality results
  • A polished and respectful communicator who can engage with ease across all levels—equally comfortable presenting to executive leadership as collaborating with colleagues right down the hall.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work efficiently with people in a team environment.
Qualifications
  • Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Architecture, Scenic Design, Environmental Design, or a related field.
  • Proficient to advanced experience with 3d modeling software of SketchUp and Vectorworks. Other modeling / render engine software is a bonus (such as Cinema4D, 3D Studio Max, Rhino + 3d Rendering).
  • Ability to communicate stage and environmental design concepts with sketches, drawings, or digital models to express design ideas to clients and our production team.
  • Ability to design within the parameters of events needs including client expectations, budget, show schedule, and venue specifications.
  • 3+ years of design experience within the event industry a plus
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office 365 toolset.
  • Willingness to learn and become proficient in budgeting and project management software.
  • Valid driver’s license required; may be required to obtain US Passport and medical card, if necessary.
