Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, coding software, and data privacy tools is crucial. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities help RHIAs manage sensitive information and lead teams. As an RHIA, your responsibilities are to manage and implement data capture systems and processes for different types of health information. Your duties often include supervising registered health information technicians who have fewer management tasks and more data entry and coding tasks. In addition to the daily management of these systems, you also contribute to projects that improve efficiency and compliance with federal and state medical privacy regulations.

What are RHIA professionals and what do they do?

RHIAs, or Registered Health Information Administrators, are certified professionals responsible for managing patient health information and medical records in healthcare settings. They ensure the accuracy, privacy, and security of health data, oversee health information systems, and help healthcare organizations comply with regulations.
