Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Sr Principal/Principal Avionics Radar Engineer to join the team of qualified individuals in our Avionics Integration Organization. This role is located onsite in Melbourne, Florida.

A successful Avionics Radar Engineer has good leadership skills with a good understanding of Radar System Principles, Signal Processing, and RF Wave Propagation principles. The Avionics Radar Engineer consistently brings up concerns, issues and risk and holds team to a high level of technical rigor.

Essential Functions:

  • Providing engineering support for Radar Performance Analysis which includes analyzing Radar Design, working with key suppliers to develop radar systems, and testing advanced radar systems for various applications
  • Create aircraft system schematics to support air vehicle wiring diagrams
  • Support flight test activities and post flight data analysis, and resolution of flight test anomalies
  • Contribute to the development of proposals and presentations for new business opportunities while collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring new radar technologies to market
  • Support of the verification of aircraft avionics and Prime Mission Equipment installations and aircraft certification documents such as SSOWs, PDIRs, and SCDs
  • Radar Requirements development and analysis with the capability to support trade studies
  • Informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in lab, with the ability to troubleshoot hardware avionics equipment in a lab environment
  • Manage suppliers, review, and analyze supplier design data, define functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration, and support test execution
  • Provide technical support to other departments, including sales and production
  • Stay current with the latest industry developments and technologies

T3 Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience OR Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of experience OR PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years of experience
  • Must have working knowledge of radar principles and have experience with computer simulations, mathematical modeling, and programming
  • RF and Microwave Engineering: Knowledge of RF and microwave components, circuits, and their behavior
  • Antenna Design and Optimization: Experience with designing, analyzing, and optimizing antennas for specific radar applications.
  • Signal Processing: Proficiency in digital signal processing techniques for radar data, including filtering, detection, and tracking
  • At minimum, an active U.S.Government Secret Clearance Secret level clearance is required to apply and to start the role, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the Company to meet its business needs

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
