Remote Mri Rf Coil Engineer information

What does a remote MRI RF coil engineer do?

A Remote MRI RF Coil Engineer designs, develops, and maintains radiofrequency (RF) coils used in MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machines, often while working from a remote location. Their work involves creating coils that optimize image quality, reduce noise, and ensure patient safety. These engineers use specialized software and collaborate with medical teams and manufacturing partners to solve technical challenges, troubleshoot issues, and improve coil performance. Remote work typically involves digital communication, simulation, and virtual testing before coils are physically produced and tested in labs or clinical environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote MRI RF coil engineer?

To thrive as a Remote MRI RF Coil Engineer, you need a solid background in electrical engineering, RF circuit design, and MRI physics, usually supported by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with simulation tools (such as HFSS or CST), PCB design software, and safety standards, along with experience in MRI system integration, is essential. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for diagnosing issues remotely and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. These skills ensure precise RF coil design, compliance with safety protocols, and the ability to resolve complex technical challenges efficiently in a remote setting.

What are some common challenges faced by remote MRI RF coil engineers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote MRI RF Coil Engineers often face challenges related to effective communication and collaboration with on-site teams, especially when troubleshooting hardware issues or optimizing coil performance. To address these challenges, it's important to establish clear communication channels, utilize remote diagnostic tools, and schedule regular virtual meetings with cross-functional teams such as MRI technologists, design engineers, and project managers. Building strong documentation practices and being proactive in seeking feedback can also help ensure smooth project progress and high-quality outcomes, even when working remotely.

About the Team

The Aerospace Defense Custom Systems (ADCS) team at Keysight delivers custom RF, test, automation, and measurement solutions for some of the world's most demanding aerospace, defense, satellite, and space applications. Working with leading organizations across government, defense, and commercial markets, ADCS combines deep engineering expertise with innovative problem-solving to help customers design, validate, and deploy next-generation technologies. From advanced RF test systems to large-scale automated manufacturing and validation solutions, our team solves complex challenges that go far beyond standard products.

About the Role

Are you an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, working directly with customers, and helping shape innovative test and measurement solutions?

As a Senior RF Solutions Business Development Engineer, you will serve as a key technical resource between customers, engineering teams, and business stakeholders. In this role, you will work with aerospace, defense, satellite, and space organizations to understand customer requirements, develop custom RF, digital, and test & measurement solutions, and support opportunities throughout the pre-sales lifecycle.

This role combines technical problem-solving, customer engagement, solution development, and commercial awareness. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams across Keysight to develop winning solutions, support technical decision-making, and help customers solve challenging test and measurement problems.

Whether the opportunity involves RF systems, automated test platforms, digital validation environments, or custom integrated solutions, you'll play an important role in helping customers bring innovative technologies to market while contributing to the continued growth of the ADCS business.

This position is remote eligible within the United States, with periodic travel to customer locations and Keysight sites as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with account managers, application engineers, and customers to identify, qualify, and develop opportunities for custom RF, digital, and test & measurement solutions.
  • Engage directly with customers to understand business objectives, technical requirements, and project constraints, translating complex needs into practical solution recommendations.
  • Serve as the technical lead during the pre-sales process, guiding opportunities from initial concept through proposal development, quotation, negotiation, and project handoff.
  • Evaluate technical tradeoffs and recommend solution architectures that balance performance, risk, schedule, and cost while meeting customer objectives.
  • Define and propose custom RF, digital, automation, and test system solutions utilizing Keysight's extensive portfolio of products, software, services, and engineering capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, operations, manufacturing, and business teams to develop and validate winning customer solutions.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders and resources to ensure opportunities progress efficiently through the proposal, review, approval, and quoting processes.

  • Demonstrate the technical feasibility and business value of proposed solutions, addressing customer concerns and influencing technical and business decision-makers.
  • Manage multiple concurrent opportunities at various stages of the sales lifecycle, prioritizing activities to meet customer and business commitments.
  • Support pricing strategy, contract negotiations, and commercial discussions in partnership with Keysight legal, finance, and commercial teams.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with customers, serving as a long-term technical advisor and identifying opportunities for future business growth.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, customer challenges, and competitive activity to help shape ADCS strategy and solution offerings.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the ADCS business through technical leadership, customer advocacy, and a strong customer-first mindset.
