Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering and electronics principles using RF synthesis and simulation software to design, simulate, and prototype new RF/microwave modules and subsystems for demanding military and aerospace applications
  • Perform detailed compliance analysis for electrical, mechanical, environmental, and regulatory requirements (compliance matrix) for all new products being quoted
  • Estimate total costs, including material, labor, test, and development expenses, as well as lead times for new product quotations
  • Lead design and development projects to completion following the companys established product development process
  • Optimize new products for performance, manufacturing lead time, and cost
  • Provide handson guidance to assemblers and engineering technicians during prototype build and optimization phases
  • Interface with manufacturing engineering to develop any new processes required to support new products
  • Coordinate with the purchasing department to ensure timely procurement of prototype materials
  • Provide regular project status updates
  • Lead or participate in required project meetings: kickoffs, peer design reviews, preshipment reviews, etc.
  • Provide design engineering support during the transition of new products to production
  • Support existing production products that require engineering assistance for obsolete components, quality or reliability issues, or further optimization
  • Educate, train, mentor, and coach less experienced design engineers and technicians
  • Stay current with technology and industry trends; propose new product concepts that could provide a competitive advantage
