Job description

Revive Church of San Diego (RCSD):

Revive Church of San Diego (RCSD) is a newly planted church prayerfully seeking a lead pastor who will raise disciples of Jesus Christ and lay a firm foundation for the church to grow together. The lead pastor will disciple the congregation through preaching and teaching of God’s Word, prayer, discipleship training, and shepherding the house church shepherds/ministry leaders and members of the church.

Description of the Position:

The lead pastor will work closely with the board members as the president of the board within a model of mutual accountability. The pastor will build strong ministry partnerships with the Youth Pastor, Children’s Ministry Pastor, and Children’s Ministry Shepherd to ensure alignment in vision, discipleship, and pastoral care, while also maintaining cooperative ties with the sister Korean-speaking congregation to foster unity and shared mission.

  • Preach and preside on Sundays (weekly)
  • Holds to the belief that the Holy Bible is God-breathed, inerrant and should be interpreted at its face value unless clearly intended as allegory (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • Believes in the sanctity of marriage as the holy union between man and woman (John 19:4-6)
  • Is mission‑minded and enthusiastically supports the sharing of the gospel in all nations as Jesus instructed his disciples (Matthew 2:18-20)
  • Oversee house churches by equipping leaders and attending on rotation
  • Disciple house church shepherds/leaders and support ministry teams
  • Provide pastoral care to members
  • Collaborate with leaders to strengthen life‑stage ministries (events, groups, retreats, etc.) for spiritual growth
Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate conviction for pastorship over his church, spiritual maturity, pastoral integrity, and a passion for relational, community‑centered ministry.
  • Ordained minister with a Master of Divinity (minimum)
  • Minimum five years of pastoral ministry experience
  • Evident Christ‑centered character reflecting the fruit of the Spirit (integrity, trustworthiness, devotion)
  • Commitment to open, honest, discerning communication and teamwork with staff and congregation
  • Strong preaching, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative, hopeful, and grounded in church tradition
  • Passion for discipling leaders and cultivating next‑generation ministries (K–12 and college)
  • Heart for shepherding people in relational, community‑based ministry settings
