Your Role

As a Summer Student Extern in Gensler's Los Angeles office, you will join a dynamic studio environment shadowing architects, interior designers, and marketing professionals on creative projects. This is a paid 6-week externship program, Tuesday through Thursday from 1:00pm - 5:00pm (12 hours per week) running from July 14th through August 20th.

What You Will Do

  • As a collaborative member of a design team, you will work with designers, architects, directors, and managers to plan, design, develop andgain real-world experience.

  • Enjoy the rich culture of our office and firm through educational sessions and mentorship opportunities that include lunch-and-learns, lectures, project tours and vendor presentations.

  • Produce graphic presentations, 3D renderings, and technical drawings.

  • Build physical study models and presentation models.

  • Utilize hand rendering techniques to communicate design concepts.

Your Qualifications

  • You are currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a local Los Angeles area high school ACE Mentorship program with a strong interest in architectural design, craft and the construction industry.

  • You will have completed your junior or senior year of high school with the intent to attend an architectural program. This externship is not for students currently in college.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Adobe InDesign desired.

  • Experience with Revit or Rhino preferred.

  • Hand sketching and physical modelling ability a plus.
