Overview


Our company is a leading AV integration and Data Center construction firm seeking a detail-oriented Revenue. Manager to join our Finance team. This role is critical to ensuring accurate revenue recognition across complex, long-term construction and integration projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in construction accounting, percentage-of-completion methodology, and project-based revenue recognition, and thrives in a collaborative, in-person environment working closely with Project Managers, Operations, and Finance leadership.


Responsibilities

  • Own the month-end and quarter-end revenue recognition process for AV integration and data center construction projects, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting standards
  •  Partner with Project Managers to review job cost budgets, estimated costs to complete, and billing schedules to ensure accurate revenue and margin reporting
  •  Lead forecasting of job costs across active projects, working with Project Managers to update estimates-to-complete and identify cost trends that could impact revenue and margin
  • Work closely and manage a growing team of Project Accountants (PAs)to ensure consistent, accurate job cost tracking, timely revenue entries, and alignment between project-level accounting and overall revenue recognition
  •  Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, identifying over/under billings and reconciling to the general ledger
  • Review and approve project-level revenue entries, change orders, and contract modifications for proper accounting treatment
  • Monitor project profitability and flag variances, cost overruns, or schedule delays that may impact revenue recognition
  • Collaborate with the billing/PA team to ensure invoicing aligns with contract terms and revenue recognized
  •  Support the Financial Controller in month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis related to revenue
  • Assist with the preparation of revenue-related audit schedules and support external auditors during annual audits and reviews
  • Develop and maintain internal controls and documentation related to revenue recognition policies and procedures
  •  Identify opportunities to improve revenue reporting processes, WIP reporting accuracy, and cross-departmental communication with Project Management and Operations
  • Provide ad hoc revenue analysis and reporting to Finance leadership as needed
  • Assist with training and mentoring of junior accounting staff on revenue-related processes


Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  •  7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with significant exposure to construction, engineering, or project-based revenue recognition
  • 2-3+ years of supervising/managing experience
  •  Strong working knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting and ASC 606
  • Experience preparing and analyzing WIP schedules
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience forecasting job costs and estimates-to-complete on active projects
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with and provide guidance to a team of Project Accountants
  • Ability to work in-person, full-time, at the Rockville, MD office


Preferred:

• CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred

• Experience in AV integration, low-voltage, data center, or general construction industries

• Experience with construction/ERP software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Procore, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar)

• Public accounting background (audit or advisory)
