Position Summaryย 

The Revenue Cycle Directorย is responsible forย the strategic leadership, operational management, and performance optimization of the full revenue cycle for a growing orthopedic practice and ambulatory surgery center (ASC). This role overseesย bothย commercialย insurance,ย workmanโ€™s comp, andย personalย injuryย accountsย toย includeย coding, billing, collections, reimbursement, denial management, appeals, and revenue integrity functions to maximize cash collections, improve operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and payer requirements.ย 

The Director will lead aย growing teamย of revenue cycle professionals through two direct-report managers/supervisors and serve as a key partner to executive leadership in driving financial performance through data analysis, reporting, and payer collaboration.ย

  • Direct and oversee all revenue cycle functions including:ย ย

  • Analyze claims, reimbursement, payer mix, andย collection ofย trends toย identifyย opportunities for revenue enhancement.ย ย 

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators including:ย ย

Compliance & Revenue Integrityย 

  • Ensure coding and billing compliance with federal, state, payer, and specialty-specific regulations.ย ย 

  • Maintain oversight of documentation, coding accuracy, audit readiness, and reimbursement integrity.ย ย 

  • Partner with compliance and clinical leadership on coding education and audit initiatives.ย ย 

Payer Relations / Contracting Supportย 

  • Interface directly with commercial payers,ย attorneys, workersโ€™ย compensation carriers, and personal injury representativesย regardingย claims, reimbursement disputes, escalations, and operational issues.ย ย 

  • Support payer contracting and reimbursement strategy through claims and reimbursement analytics.ย ย 

  • Identifyย underpayments andย reimbursement ofย variance opportunities.ย ย 

Leadership & Team Developmentย 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports andย an overallย team.ย ย 

  • Establishย accountability ofย metrics and performanceย standardsย for staff and management.ย 

  • ย Drive a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and service.ย 

Qualificationsย 

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Finance, Business, or related fieldย required; master's degree preferred.ย ย 

  • 7+ years of progressive revenue cycle leadership experience in physician practice and/or ASC settings.ย ย 

  • Orthopedic practice revenue cycle experience strongly preferred.ย ย 

  • Demonstratedย expertiseย in:ย ย 

  • Professional and facility coding/billingย ย 

  • Claims reimbursementย ย 

  • Denials and appealsย ย 

  • Accounts receivable managementย ย 

  • Revenue cycle analyticsย ย 

  • Strong working knowledge of:ย ย 

  • Personal Injury (PI) billing/workflowsย ย 

  • Workersโ€™ Compensation (WC) billing/workflowsย ย 

  • Experience withย Athenahealthย andย SIS (Surgical Information Systems)ย a plus.ย ย 

  • Deep understanding of payer reimbursement methodologies and managed care operations.ย ย 

  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and dashboard/reporting capabilities.ย ย 

  • Proven leadership experience managing managers/supervisors and larger operational teams.ย
