Job description

We are seeking a full-time dayshift candidate for mix shifts starting form 5:15am, 6am, or 6:30am and a full-time evening candidate for mix shifts of 10:30-6:30PM and 11:00am-7:30PM position. Cooks start out at a base pay of $15.50/hour. We offer 2nd shift differential pay of an additional $2.00/hour as well as weekend differential pay of an additional $1.00/hour. The candidate must be able to work every other weekend as well as every other holiday. Our dining rooms offer a restaurant-like feel where our residents as well as their friends and family can order from the menu and dine while enjoying a wonderfully cooked meal.

The cook at Christian Care Retirement Community is responsible for much more than simply preparing meals. This position requires an individual who can expertly cook a wide variety of foods in large batches to serve many residents. The cook must be able to follow recipes and properly use kitchen equipment to produce high-quality, delicious meals that meet federal, state, and local food safety and nutrition standards. Attention to detail is crucial, as the cook must precisely follow guidelines and procedures to ensure food is handled, prepared, and served properly. This role requires strong written and verbal communication skills to read instructions, share information with the food service team, and interact positively with residents, family members, and staff. The cook must be able to work independently to make decisions and judgements while cooking. They need to be observant and proactive, regularly checking work stations and food service areas for cleanliness, organization, and safety. Inventory and supply management also falls under the purview of the cook. Overall, the cook at Christian Care Retirement Community must have a passion for food service paired with organizational skills and attention to detail. This allows them to provide wholesome, appetizing meals that nourish residents' bodies and spirits.
